The Randy McMichael Foundation was established to promote programs that enhance the quality of life for young people and assist in the recreational and educational development of youth in the communities we call home.
In January of 2006 Randy and his wife, Cawanna, established The Randy McMichael Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization. The Foundation’s mission is to make an impact on the lives of children in the communities close to the McMichael’s hearts.
Since arriving in the NFL in 2002, Randy has always played a significant role in the league charitable efforts. Randy and Cawanna opened the doors to The Randy McMichael Foundation in order to make a larger impact on the communities they call home. The Foundation raises money through various special events. The funds are used for programs dedicated to impacting the area’s youth on several aspects.
It took Randy no time to dive into the work of the Foundation as he enjoys having a more personal role in the community. In February of 2006, The Randy McMichael Foundation sponsored a local little league team, where Randy also served as an assistant coach for the local little leaguers. The inaugural year for the Foundation was a busy one. Throughout the 2006 season the Foundation hosted two fundraisers, which were both a huge success. One Saturday a month Randy dedicated his time to the local Miami Police Athletic League Chapter. High school students were brought together to hear from some friends of the Foundation. The guest speakers from around South Florida were all somehow involved in the sports field. The guest speakers stressed the importance of a strong educational background. Some of the topics covered included media relations, finance, marketing, community relations and advertising. Randy and the Foundation also hosted Junior Training Camp Clinics, Ice Skating Clinics, and fun field trips for the children we work with. At Christmas time, Randy, Cawanna and the Foundation hosted twenty-five underprivileged children for a Christmas shopping spree. Randy also made regular visits to our partner organizations to share his life experiences and provide guidance to the children.
